Minister Bensaid: Ministry services carry out inventory field mission of cultural heritage relying on modern mechanisms and processes
Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mr. Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid has confirmed that the Ministry’s action plan in preserving national cultural heritage relies on several interventions, on their top, to carry out an inventory of the most important historical landmarks across the Kingdom’s national territory.
Minister Bensaid has made clear that the Ministry of Culture services are carrying out field missions to establish an inventory of the national cultural heritage by relying on modern processes and mechanism, to gather necessary data about different components of our cultural heritage, to be afterwards recorded, archived and integrated into a special information database.
Minister Bensaid has stated that a number of historical buildings and archeological sites will also be classified into a comprehensive list of national heritage. According to the Minister, about 120 archeological sites and historical buildings have been classified over the last few years into national heritage; 9 cities and archeological sites into world heritage, in addition to 12 archeological sites were integrated into intangible heritage such as the Moroccan Kaftan by UNESCO.
The Ministry has submitted a bill concerning the preservation of cultural heritage, and has established a program of rehabilitation a number of archeological sites across the Moroccan Kingdom.
