Geneva: Minister of Justice Mr. Abdellatif Ouahbi represents Morocco at the 52nd session of the Human Rights Council

Minister of Justice, Mr. Abdellatif Ouahbi represents the Moroccan Kingdom at the 52nd session of the Human Rights Council which will be started Monday, February 27, 2023 in Geneva.

The 52nd session will be attended by 47 members among them Morocco, Algeria, Qatar, Somalia, Sudan, UAE and will be held under the presidency of the Czech Republic.

Fourteen reports will be endorsed during this session amid universal periodic review mechanisms including those of Morocco, Bahrain and Tunisia.

The opening session will be marked by statements made by President of the Council, President of the General Assembly, the UN Secretary General, Higher Commissioner for Human Rights and Swiss Minister of Foreign Affairs.

It is also expected that a special rapporteur in charge of right in development will be appointed, another special rapporteur in charge of human rights condition in the Russian Union, in addition to discussion of human rights condition in 15 countries.

The 52nd session will also discuss a report about fanaticism, negative stereotyping and discrimination against persons and incitement to violence on criteria of religion and belief.

The session will debate 19 reports by private rapporteurs about housing right, impact of some countries’ foreign debts as related to human rights, cultural rights, right in food, people’s rights in physical and mental condition, torture, maltreatment and hard inhuman punishment, right in privacy, freedom of religion and belief, violence trafficking and sexual exploitation against children, rights of persons in handicapped situation, human rights for the elderly, disappeared persons, human rights role in the preservation of environment, fight against pandemics in the future, terrorism and minorities issues .

Good governance will also be discussed during that session, the report of the international government action in charge cross-national companies, business institutions as related to human rights, human rights, climate change, protection and implementation of sustainable development plan for 2030 and negative impact of misinformation as related to human rights, the UN Forum for human rights, democracy and rule of law and finally the report of social forum for 2022.
