Riyadh .. Minister of Justice presents the new vision about digital transformation of the justice system and warns of its risks on judiciary action
Minister of Justice Mr. Abdellatif Ouahbi has presented the new strategy of digital transformation of the justice system which focuses entirely on the principle of “justice in the service of citizens”.
On the other hand, Minister Ouahbi, warned in his allocution made during the justice international conference held last Sunday, March 5, 2023, in Riyadh, KSA under the topic “future of justice in light of digital transformation”, of digital risks on the judiciary system, considering that digitization as long as it facilitates interaction inside justice and services for litigants, it also represents a risk on justice and may impact values and convictions that have characterized justice and fair trials over decades.
In this context, Minister Ouahbi stated “Digitization is useful in accelerating measures and procedures and time saving; however its risks may have some impacts on our values, our privacy and human aspects, adding that “when we generalize machine rules on all cases, we would then cancel a major and important role of a judge’s personal convictions before issuing his judgment.”
Concerning the new vision of digital transformation endorsed by Ministry of Justice, Minister Ouahbi has reiterated that it aims in principle at establishing full digitization process of the relation citizen/enterprise and giving him the priority in terms of afforded services. This new strategy according the Minister also aims at unifying, simplifying and digitizing judiciary administration procedures.
To make successful this digitization major project, Minister Ouahbi has called for the necessity to take care of qualified national human resources, on-going training and protection of data by national executive programs.
