The Moroccan – Spanish crisis: “El Mundo” highlights Spain’s economic losses upon its exclusion from the Marhaba operation
The Spanish media still tackles the economic implications following Morocco’s decision to exclude Spain from the “Marhaba” operation for the year 2021.
“Morocco’s decision is most likely to affect the Spanish economy”, Spanish MP and Vox Party spokesperson, Macarena Olona Choclán, stated, noting that the port of Motril-Granada alone would miss out on 20 million euros”.
For its part, Spanish newspaper “El Mundo” indicated that Morocco’s decision will cause several ports and regions to lose an estimated 500 million euros.
“Morocco’s decision to exclude Spain from this year’s Marhaba operation was a severe blow to the Spanish economy”, El Mundo revealed in an article issued on Tuesday, June 08, 2021, elaborating that this decision by Morocco stands as a reaction to Spain’s alleged reception of Polisario leader, Brahim Ghali, in his path to seek medical treatment.
