Video – Benabdallah warns of 2021 elections spending limits

PPS Secretary General, Nabil Benabdallah, stated that MPs’ expenditure throughout their electoral campaigns shall not exceed 500 thousand MAD (for each), as stipulated by the laws in force, stressing that this expenditure shall be recorded and supported by documented proof.

“Ganging up against one particular party shall be deemed contradictory to the principles of democracy we live by; therefore, it is more likely to set the ground for capitalism to reign over all of the other political aspects”, Benabdallah declared.

“The newly approved law has limited MPs’ monetary support to 500 thousand MAD; however, some parties allocate an estimated 200 million MAD a month for electoral campaigns only”, Benabdallah added, noting that such fiscal inequity is likely to impact the results of the elections”.

At the end of his intervention, Benabdallah indicated that his statement does not mean to single out RNI as a party, pointing that all parties shall try to gain people’s support through positions and agendas, rather than over-the-roof expenditure.
