Controversy – Democrats, just like the rest of Morocco’s political and social segments, denounced the food baskets distribution campaign conducted by a Casablanca-based charity Foundation, under the name “Joud”, during the holy month of Ramadan, to serve the RNI party electoral campaign.
For its part, PAM’s Youth organization condemned the RNI’s manipulation and confusion between political action and charitable deeds, by mobilizing Joud Foundation to engage in a series of charity actions in order to serve the latter’s electoral purposes, a few months prior to the elections.
In a press release, PAM’s Youth declared that political parties shall be more concerned with opening up to citizens and participating in the management of local affairs, rather than using charitable and solidarity actions as a springboard to “earn” people’s votes and “restore” their confidence.
+ Distributing panels has never been a partisan task +
Distributing food and aid baskets has never been a partisan task, for political parties shall be more concerned with developing political programs and social projects in all sectors, promoting the economy, and improving citizens’ living conditions, by creating job opportunities, and setting the ground for better health and educational systems, the release noted, pointing that RNI’s “illegal” actions do not comply with the principles of good governance, the Constitutional provisions and the development of political practices within our country.
PAM’s youth organization hereby calls on the public authorities to intervene against such violations for they are deemed “insulting” to the dignity of broad social components, especially those who have been strongly impacted by the new Coronavirus pandemic, stressing that the charitable action adopted by the State, under the haut-patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, Amir Al Mouminine, aims to promote solidarity values within society, while popularizing people’s sense of responsibility and citizenship.
PAM’s youth shall remain committed to standing in the way of such immoral practices “by all legitimate means”, for they undermine the role played by Morocco’s political structures, as well as the actions taken by the latters to serve the interest of our country, “especially since the people behind these practices have been reportedly incriminated by the Parliament, as the latter has openly denounced the blatant exploitation of governmental decisions to accumulate wealth, such as the decision to liberalize fuels”.
