USA – Morocco: CDC recognizes Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara upon issuing its “safe destination” list
The US Health Department has recently proclaimed Morocco “a safe destination” for American citizens, at a time where it mitigated its travel restrictions to over 110 destinations due to the Corona pandemic.
Within this context, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) published 4 genuine lists relating to Risk Assessment Levels for Covid-19; the first of which (Level 1: COVID-19 Low) features Morocco among a set of other countries, that require passengers to submit their vaccination credentials upon their travel.
However, the CDC urged all US citizens to avoid unessential travel to the countries it deemed moderately, highly or extremely risky: Level 2: COVID-19 Moderate, Level 3: COVID-19 High, and Level 4: COVID-19 Very High.
The CDC has also established a world map stipulating the different levels of risk for every destination, including Morocco’s full territory, in recognition of its sovereignty over the Sahara.
Meanwhile, the US State Department tended to lift a series of restrictions with regard to 90 countries worldwide, reminding its citizens that traveling to level 4 destinations shall be ill-advised, while level 3 destinations are to be reconsidered accordingly.
