Elections – PAM Politburo: The party’s options to join the new cabinet shall « remain open » following RNI’s victory

PAM Politburo shall hold an urgent National Council meeting to discuss the latest political developments and the party’s positioning with regard to future political choices.

“In respect of the upcoming political developments relating to the recent electoral results, PAM Politburo has decided to work closely with its respective national council members by holding a special session in this regard”, PAM Politburo members stated in a communiqué, noting that the session’s date and place shall be announced in the few days to come.

“The September 8 elections have consolidated Morocco’s democracy, and reflected HM’s commitment to safeguard the democratic principles within our country”, PAM Politburo members revealed during an attendance meeting, held under the chairmanship of the party SG, Abdellatif Ouahbi, on September 10, 2021, while expressing their gratitude to Moroccan citizens in general, and the inhabitants of the Moroccan Sahara in particular, for their productive contribution to the elections, thus reaffirming to the world that the common will of HM the king and the Moroccan people has brought upon a new democratic saga throughout the elections, despite all the difficult economic, social and epidemiological conditions.

On this occasion, PAM Politburo members extended a warm greeting to all party militants and candidates in light of their responsible electoral campaign, as well as their impressive results at the legislative, regional and communal levels. The politburo members have also congratulated the party’s winning candidates upon their election, warmly praised those who have not been fortunate enough to win, and commended the distinguished presence of women within Morocco’s various elected institutions.

Within the same context, PAM Politburo members extended their sincere congratulations to the National Rally of Independents (RNI) upon winning the elections, wishing the latter success in managing the country’s affairs. The politburo members have also congratulated RNI President, Aziz Akhannouch, for his appointment by HM the king as Morocco’s new Prime Minister, in the prospect of forming the new government.

Meanwhile, PAM Politburo members congratulated all political parties upon their responsible participation in the elections, praised their citizenship and democratic principles throughout the electoral campaign, and shed light on their enormous efforts in the prospect of mobilizing Moroccan citizens for the event, thus proving that political parties are the true mediator between the people and institutions. Therefore, PAM Politburo members affirmed that serious and responsible political parties shall remain distinguished both politically and socially, and that the political rotation of power falls under history’s variables and transformations, for the role of any given party will never be diminished.

With regard to PAM’s position on the upcoming political alliances, PAM Politburo members called on all militants to adhere to the party’s fourth assembly conclusions (February, 2020) stipulating the lifting of all boundaries, for what matters the most to the party is its very own electoral program, major orientations, and uncompromising modernist democratic principles.

PAM party is committed to serving the public interest from within its respective position, and shall call on elected bodies to work together with all political forces in adopting a proximity approach that tends to include all parties alike, for serving people’s interests is a heavy responsibility and a national duty, rather than a privilege based on results alone.
