Video – Minister Mehdi Bensaid calls for taking special care of centers for the protection of childhood

Mr. Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication made on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 an intervention at the Parliament calling for taking special care of Moroccan centers for the protection of childhood, stating “At the time, our country has witnessed a noticeable development progress in many sectors, we have forgotten one category of children who have nobody, I said nobody, except us, I mean all of us”.

Minister Bensaid added “If former governments have not done their duty regarding those children, who have nobody but to make the Moroccan state care for them and afford appropriate means so that they could live in dignity which every one of us hopes for his own children. Those children from the Moroccan centers for the protection of childhood are our sons”.

Minister Bensaid stated that “After I have made site-visits only to two out of fifteen centers in Casablanca and Agadir, I have not slept for two days out of sympathy for those children and I have appealed coaches and young volunteers from my department to go visit those centers and offer special care to those children because those children are our sons and therefore our support and assistance are highly needed ”.

Minister Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid continued by saying “Let me say it with all transparency, we all assume the responsibility.. And in the context of the social state we are defending as the government majority, there will be a special care on behalf of this marginalized category which nobody has so far thought about. We will give this issue a special priority. We will start by building new centers for the protection of Moroccan childhood which should respond to world criteria; and will support young staff which is working now with very simple means and will enhance civil society role- Moroccan civil society is doing great job in this venue – for the sake of creating very positive family-like atmosphere”.

At the end, Minister Bensaid has called on various government sectors to carry out a common policy to make successful the current government action on behalf of this vulnerable social category, announcing the construction of several new centers for the protection of Moroccan childhood, especially that “those children should have a special care from us because they are our children and it’s our own responsibility”.
