Minister of Justice Mr. Abdellatif Ouahbi reveals the number of imprisoned women accompanied by their children at Moroccan prisons
Minister of Justice Mr. Abdellatif Ouahbi has informed that the number of imprisoned mothers reaches 90 prisoners and that their accompanied children inside prisons reach 90 children.
The Minister confirmed in his response to MPs questions at the weekly oral session held last Monday January 3, 2022 at the House of Representatives, that despite the presence of kindergarten in some penitentiary establishments, a prison remains a prison eventually, pointing out that two mothers nursing homes were created in the local prison of Ain Sebaa in Casablanca and the other one in the local prison of Oudaya in Marrakech, with a capacity of accommodation reaching 36 equipped rooms for the mother and the other one for the child.
The Minister felt sorry for the presence of tens of children in the Moroccan prisons, while those children should have normal life, pointing out that when those children attain a certain age they will leave the prison, however the raised question is who will be taking care of those innocent children.
