Mr. Abdellatif Ouahbi: PAM is going through an accelerated dynamism at all levels especially with a feminine formula
The PAM regional secretariat in Souss – Massa area held on Saturday, May 7, 2022 in Agadir, a regional communication meeting with PAM women from the area under the slogan “The Soussi woman pillar for women organization and essential mainstay for development”.
In a statement made on the occasion, the PAM Secretary General, Mr. Abdellatif Ouahbi has confirmed that this meeting represents an outstanding station of the history of the party which is going through an accelerated dynamism at all levels, especially at the level of feminine formula”.
Mr. Ouahbi said “This meeting has come in the context of several communication meetings which were held by the party leadership with various women throughout the country to assess Moroccan women conditions and therefore elaborate possible answers, after a bold and realistic induction of former parties and NGOs experiences”, adding “We are sure that this outstanding meeting will be rich and fruitful like previous ones held in Fes-Meknes, Rabat-Salé-Kenitra, Casablanca-Settat, and Marrakech-Safi and it is an occasion to praise greatly the efforts deployed by the preparatory committee and behind the curtain volunteers who have worked hard for the organization of this meeting and have made it successful inside different areas of the kingdom”.
The PAM leader stated “The Soussi woman despite her bigger roles at the educational, religious and academic levels, her heroism was great beside heroic men of resistance to defend the nation. Despite their own contribution to development and their economic sacrifices since independence, women in Souss area are still suffering more that Soussi men, wondering how can I talk about heroic women, scholar and authentic, who have given everything to their nation in silence, for exchange of poverty, precariousness, illiteracy, violence, marginalization and denial of basic rights on top of them right for education and health”.
Mr. Ouahbi added “Our meeting today has come in the context of national conditions characterized by many achievements and gains won by Moroccan women who have made many strides towards implementing their own status and reinforce their pivotal role inside the society; however to be honest and for history, this meeting is being held in the context of sour reality where many aspects of exclusion and marginalization against Moroccan women are still existing, particularly a lack of balance between their important economic and social roles and their situation inside the fabric of economic development and social progress”.
Mr. Abdellatif Ouahbi has reminded of His Majesty’s speech two decades ago on the occasion of the anniversary of the Revolution of the King and the People on August 20, 1999, when His Majesty wondered with bitterness “how he imagines the prosperity of the society and its progress to be achieved while women who represent almost its half, are still not enjoying fully their rights and interests being denied while our religion (Islam) has offered many rights to women seen as men’s sisters…”
Minister of Justice has stressed that the PAM, as a modern democratic party, should overcome past mentality and obstacles and therefore assume its full responsibility towards helping Moroccan women play fully their economic and political roles, parallel with their social roles.. we should go beyond slogans and liberation speeches to the reality of serious practice in favor of supporting women rights and reinforcing their integration inside public sphere to bring them to contribute to the economy and job market.
What is requested from us inside the PAM, said Ouahbi, is to reassess objectively the experiences of independent women organizations and women NGOs to elaborate all and with courage a genuine women framework capable of making of women a real mainstay to strengthen their role inside the political realm and inside various institutions managing public matters”, adding “We should think of the best and most efficient means to limit exclusion and marginalization and help Moroccan women in remote areas and poor neighborhoods become a strategic focal point amid the new development model in accordance with the ambitions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in building an authentic and modern society which believes in equality and modernity for the behalf of Moroccan women status”.
