Minister Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid and Minister Ghita Mezzour opened Morocco E-Sport Rabat summit capital of Africa for e-gaming

​Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mr. Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, along with Minister of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, Mrs. Ghita Mezzour opened last Thursday, October 2022, the Morocco E-Sport summit organized by the Ministry of Youth and Moroccan Royal Federation of e-gaming.

​The opening ceremony was attended by director Moroccan Agency for Investments Development and Exports, Mr. Ali Seddiki and Mrs. Najat Bouamama, director of Regional Investment Center/CRI for Rabat-Salé-Kenitra area.

​Capital Rabat has become the African capital for E-sports after Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication has announced of thinking about creating an industrial zone for E-Sports with a Moroccan style.

​Minister Bensaid has stated in his intervention that Morocco is pursuing encouragement of investments in implementation of royal supreme instructions and that our country is upcoming on investing in e-gaming sector, stressing that this industry has positioned itself today across the world and that Morocco is the first consumer at the regional level.

​Minister Bensaid added that it’s high time that we, in Morocco, should not only be consumers but producers as well, and has called for the creation of a field of industry in this important sector, particularly with the appearance of new professions linked to this industry.

From her own side, Minister Mezzour has confirmed that her department gives utmost importance to this industry especially that it goes parallel with His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s instructions which pay greater interest in that kind of digital industry; in addition that it offers services at international levels; the area will rely entirely on Moroccan know-how and skills in this field which is considered as real leverage for many countries.
