Minister of Justice, Mr. Abdellatif Ouahbi has presented at the House of Councilors, the recommendations of our country’s human rights council on the occasion of 41st session of the comprehensive international review held in Geneva.
Mr. Ouahbi stated during the oral questions session held last Tuesday, November 15, 2022, that the fourth session, which was held in Geneva from November 8 to 11, 2022, has constituted an opportunity to reconfirm the Moroccan Kingdom’s active response to UN human rights mechanisms and therefore the Kingdom’s commitments to human rights, adding that there were recommendations from more than 127 countries, which have reached about 306 recommendations and 120 countries have submitted recommendations and reports.
Minister Ouahbi added that “most of those recommendations, almost all of them, with the exception of a very few from enemies of our territorial unity, were positive and have praised the reforms undertaken by the Kingdom in the field of human rights, and open major projects led by His Majesty King Mohammed VI”; and that all of them have called on Morocco to pursue those reforms and major projects, highlighting that more than 120 countries out of 127, have had positive recommendations, and have praised Morocco’s respect for human rights at it’s known internationally and have also praised the progress being witnessed by our country in this field.
Concerning the third periodic report, the government official has reiterated that our country has made known its position towards those recommendations, as 191 recommendations have been fully endorsed; also our country has made not of 44 recommendations, 18 of them were partially rejected, and 26 recommendations were entirely rejected, due to their antagonism with universal constants enshrined in the Moroccan Kingdom constitution and in full respect of the agreement.
Minister Ouahbi has pointed out to the Moroccan Kingdom’s position regarding recommendations of either full or partial rejection or non-acceptance in the context of adherence to the constitution’s principles and provisions, especially universal constants and international agreements adopted by the Moroccan Kingdom.
