Minister of Justice, Mr. Abdellatif Ouahbi has stated at the House of Representatives that his department has set up now a digital service about acts of marriage saying that “any person who wants to get married should enter the platform website and register his name using his identity card as issued by national security; and the same thing is applied to the engaged girl/lady in order to get marriage permission.” This permission, has explained the Minister, cannot been taken another twice unless he or she should get in touch with the judge if the concerned persons would like to get it.
Minister Ouahbi added that there is a special number, a kind of secret password which can be taken only by three concerned persons, husband, wife and the judge. This account includes and stores all important data about persons in terms of their family status such as if the person is divorced, how many children he/she has, does divorced husbands pay their alimony, so all data are available in the account in a manner that a person cannot escape truth. This is because, as underlined the Minister, there are many dangerous problems which emanate from permission for marriage; that’s why the Ministry has accelerated the establishment of this digital platform to make an end to all the problems related to marriage.
In the same context, Minister Ouahbi explained that the Odoul (sharia notary) also should bring act of marriage and load it into the computer to be signed later on electronically by the judge. The Ministry of Justice, said the Minister, has trained its staff to control all documents and their legal status based on national identity card.
As regard to mixed marriages, either for husband or wife, all personal documents data are recorded in the computer to control closely those matters. Also the permission for marriage act is delivered only once, if the husband wants a second one in case he wants to get married another time, then he should contact the judge who is the person empowered to give him that permission for marriage a second time.
In conclusion, Minister Ouahbi said that there is another grid established by the Ministry of Interior which contains all data and information about new born babies who should be registered by their parents in hospitals and not somewhere else.
