Minister of Economic Integration, Small Enterprise Employment and Competencies, Mr. Younes Sekkouri, has stressed on the necessity to reform employment code, which has not known any revision since it entered into effect back in 2004, despite several changes and new developments the employment sector has witnessed.
Minister Sekkouri stated in an oral session at the second house of councilors last week “regarding measures to implement the broad reform workshop for employment code, we should embrace participative approach endorsed by the social charter mechanisms, and also by the mentioned social agreement to be submitted to a three-fold specialized commission to work on reviewing, amending and studying the code within a scheduled time.”
The Minister added that “we cannot envisage any measure without the participation of essential actors in a way that it responds to current national and international challenges while taking into account the recommendations of the new development model, which have insisted on simplifying the employment code and making it adaptable to a general context that requires general principles, rights and duties and also should respond to new development of job market, by giving priority to negotiations to reach collective job agreements at the enterprise level.”
The government official has confirmed that the Ministry is open to all proposals that would contribute to the improvement of the national legal system related to job market, and make it more attractive for investments and responsive to international job standards and to Morocco’s commitments towards its principle partners, inspiring from His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s supreme instructions and major projects being launched by His Majesty.”
