Following are the main points:
Human rights culture should not trespass political conflicts and so should endeavor to safeguard human integrity
Minister Ouahbi stated that “human rights culture turns into a political conflict when it comes under world influence”; highlighting that “some countries use human rights as a tool to achieve their interests and some political agenda to the detriment of other countries”, adding that “political conflicts undermine efforts to safeguard human rights and block international cooperation”. Minister Ouahbi has called on “the necessity to reinforce the culture and awareness about human rights and making it clear to all countries and peoples, and therefore strengthening cooperation to stand up against human rights violations.”
The West has no right to impose its family pattern on other cultures
Minister Ouahbi has stated on the same occasion that “the West has no right to impose its family pattern on other cultures”, stressing that “one of the first principles in human rights is the right to be different, since difference is the backbone of human rights culture”. Minister Ouahbi added that “the West’s concept of family is different from the East visions and this doesn’t mean that the East family vision cancels the West family visions.”
Minister Ouahbi has pointed out to the fact that our Arab and Islamic societies are not losers in the battle against weird ideas and that he doesn’t antagonize others but just defends his Arab and Islamic peoples’ convictions, values and identity, saying that “the West should respect culture differences and refrain from imposing its own concept on other cultures.”
Importance of legislative amendments in implementing human rights and safeguarding citizens’ integrity
Minister Ouahbi has highlighted the importance of amendments which have been proposed at the level of national legislation to establish human rights culture and safeguard Moroccan citizens’ integrity, saying in this regard that “underage marriages are not acceptable anymore and are seen as a humiliation to the Moroccan society..”, stressing that “the place of a minor girl or a boy is at school and not in matrimonial home.”
The Minister has confirmed that “we are waiting for His Majesty’s instructions as Commander the Faithful regarding project bills related to family status and that the last decision pertains to state institutions, Moroccan society various components who will be participating in the formulation of those important bills.”
Concerning individual freedoms, Minister Ouahbi has stressed that “monitoring freedoms should be in public spaces and not in private ones.”
