The earthquake.. Minister of Culture engaged on setting up necessary scenarios to re-habilitate archeological and heritage sites
Minister of Youth Culture and Communication, Mr. Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid has confirmed that the Moroccan Kingdom is currently engaging, under His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s leadership, to set up necessary scenarios to restore and re-habilitate archeological and heritage national sites that have been damaged by the earthquake which has struck several areas.
Minister Bensaid has made clear in a statement at the Islamic world cultural ministers 12th conference opened last Monday September 25, 2023 in Doha, Qatar, read on his behalf by the Secretary General of Cultural sector, that those heritage landmarks are part of the Moroccan Kingdom’s civilization, history and culture which extend over many centuries.
The Moroccan Kingdom, said the Minister, is determined to go forward to give new breath to common Islamic cooperation, highlighting that the Kingdom is ready to share its experience and expertise in the field of training, on-going training related to culture, arts and heritage; and also to restoration and protection of both material and immaterial cultural heritage, valuating vital human treasures and fighting illegal trafficking of cultural properties.
The Moroccan official has reaffirmed that Morocco will make of the celebration of Marrakech as the cultural capital in the Islamic world an extraordinary cultural event in 2024, and that the Moroccan Kingdom is eager to pursue its long-standing efforts to serve peace, stability and development issues in the world and reinforce Islamic cultural common action.
Mr. Bensaid has raised the position of the Palestinian cause and the Holy Al Quds for Morocco, stressing the leading role played by His Majesty King Mohammed VI as President of Al Quds Committee, and his supreme efforts in safeguarding Al Quds historical and authentic identity and protecting its holy sites, through the intervention of Al Quds Fund and its development socio-cultural programs for the behalf of the Holy city.
Many Arab and Islamic countries have participated in this conference, including Morocco, Qatar, the UAE, The Sultanate of Brunei Dar Salam, Cameroun, Uganda, Gabon, and representatives from Tunisia, KSA, Palestine and ISESCO.
The Islamic world Arab ministers of culture 12th conference, hosted by the ISESCO, will discuss issues related to cultural development, ISESCO out-reach programs for cultural capitals in the Islamic world, and strategies of developing sustainable cultural programs in the Islamic world.
