Mr. Nour al-Din Ashahshah, First Vice President of the Ajzanaia Municipal Council, stated that the agenda for the Council’s regular session (February 2019 session), held on the morning of Wednesday, February 6, addressed numerous development issues closely related to the daily lives of Ajzana’s residents, including matters pertaining to roads, health, and various facilities and services.
Ashshah said that the health sector received significant and extensive attention and discussion during this session, as the Council issued a “recommendation” condemning the Health Delegation’s conduct and its negative response to the Council’s summonses directing it, as a government sector, to attend the Council’s sessions; however, all summonses were met with a lack of response—that is, non-attendance, Ashshah said.
In addition, the First Vice President of the Ajzana Council emphasized that the health sector is a shared responsibility among all members of the Council, particularly with regard to the management of the health center located in the Ajzana area, which the municipality handed over to the Ministry of Health as the overseeing and managing authority; However, the Ministry has failed to fulfill its obligations toward the center regarding the facilities and equipment necessary to provide the health services required within the municipality’s territory.
Ashshah added that the members viewed the health office’s actions as a form of “disregard” for the interests of the residents and the health of citizens. He expressed his hope that the ministry responsible for the health sector would respond swiftly and positively to this demand and to the concerns of the residents in general and the members of the municipal council in particular.
The First Vice President of the Ajzanaia Municipal Council said: “The requests we have sent to the Regional Delegation are being processed under the supervision of the Regional Governor, and the Delegation should have responded. We will approach the parliamentary leadership in this regard, given that the Ajzenaya Council has issued a petition addressed to the Speaker of the Council to implement this initiative through the political groups and organizations represented within the legislative body, in order to convey the message to the Minister of Health so that he may seriously address this issue.”
