Ahmed Al-Touizi, a member of the Authenticity and Modernity Party in the House of Councillors, said that a large number of Moroccan students are pursuing their university studies in various parts of the world, but they are uncertain about the equivalence of the academic credentials they have earned, asking about the measures taken by the Ministry of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education, and Scientific Research to ensure the equivalence of these credentials and to streamline the procedures involved in this process.
Al-Touizi added, in remarks made during the oral question session held today, Tuesday, May 18, 2021, that the relevant ministry receives 4,500 equivalency applications annually, but the processing of these files is subject to significant delays due to the complexity of the procedures in place, emphasizing the need to simplify procedures for students coming from abroad, who are often professionals in various fields.
The parliamentary advisor noted that streamlining these procedures would benefit a large number of graduates who need to have their degrees recognized in order to accelerate their entry into the job market, calling on the government to implement the principle of decentralization regarding this process, as the centralization of decision-making at the ministry level in Rabat for reviewing equivalency applications requires students from all regions to travel to the capital to submit their files.
