As part of the second session of the Authenticity and Modernity Party’s Summer University, Jamal Al-Mekmani, a member of the party’s Academy’s Board of Directors, led a training workshop titled “Programs to Address Youth Mental Health in the Context of Social Change,” which drew a remarkable response from the young people in attendance.

During his presentation, Al-Mukamani offered a sociopsychological analysis of the workshop’s theme, highlighting the significance of the profound transformations that have affected the structure of the individual and society and impacted the mental health of all segments of society, including young people, He focused on the rapid shift in values that has replaced traditional societal values—which were based on solidarity, mutual support, and cooperation—with new values that tend toward self-enclosure and distancing from others, in a form resembling ontological isolation.
Through his analysis, Al-Mukamani invoked sociologist Émile Durkheim’s theory regarding the concept of solidarity in its mechanical and organic forms.

Al-Mukamani also touched on the major transformation that the contemporary system has undergone due to the digital siege that individuals now face, which has led to phenomena such as digital addiction and cyberbullying, as well as the countless images that flood our subconscious on a daily basis. He cited Émile Durkheim’s study on the phenomenon of suicide.

In his remarks, the same speaker concluded that it is necessary to work toward restoring the family’s role in guiding and raising the younger generation, and to consider drafting a national charter to raise awareness about the dangers of digital addiction and cyberbullying, developing educational digital content targeted at youth, and launching digital awareness campaigns on the importance of seeking psychological help without stigma or shame, and to leverage the most significant achievements of educational psychology and the latest developments in educational arts to reform the educational system
Dr. Ismail Shaouf, a member of the party’s National Council and coordinator of the Psychology Department at Cadi Ayyad University, noted during his presentation of the workshop “Programs to Address Youth Mental Health in the Context of Societal Changes” that mental health is the most important factor enabling individuals to engage with society and fulfill their duties to the fullest. He also explained that the cost of its absence is very high and has a direct economic and social impact. The lecturer further emphasized that the party is required to develop practical programs in this regard, which will provide significant opportunities and have a positive impact on everyone.
