The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs has denied reports circulating about the closure of prayer halls and restrictions on the practice of religious rituals, emphasizing that these false reports have contributed to confusion on the matter.
In a statement, the ministry noted that mosques in our country are considered endowments for all Muslims and are open to worshippers by law, emphasizing that the allegation that the ministry seeks to restrict the practice of religious rites in them is a deliberate falsehood and slander.
The same statement added that the ministry had not taken any decision to close permanent prayer halls; following the decision by administrative and health authorities to allow the reopening of mosques, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs reopened all mosques in the Kingdom, including 4,533 halls designated for the five daily prayers in urban areas. These halls receive the same level of care as mosques in terms of supervision by religious custodians and management, and the Ministry covers the salaries of the religious custodians and the costs of their operation.
