Yesterday, Saturday, in Rabat, the U.S. Ambassador to Morocco, David Fisher, presented a map of Morocco that includes the southern provinces, which has been officially adopted by the U.S. government.
During a press conference held in the context of the United States’ historic decision to recognize Morocco’s full and complete sovereignty over its Sahara, Mr. Fischer said, “I am pleased to present the map of the Kingdom of Morocco officially approved by the U.S. government.”
The U.S. ambassador added that this map is a “concrete manifestation” of the bold declaration issued by President Donald Trump two days ago, which recognizes Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara.
The U.S. ambassador also noted that he intends to present this map as a gift to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in recognition of His Majesty’s “bold” leadership and his continued and invaluable support for the deep friendship between the United States and the Kingdom of Morocco.
The U.S. ambassador then signed the complete map of Morocco that had been officially adopted by the U.S. government.
The historic decision by the United States to recognize Morocco’s full and complete sovereignty over its Sahara was announced on Thursday during a telephone conversation between His Majesty King Mohammed VI and U.S. President Donald Trump.
As the first concrete step in this highly significant sovereign initiative, the United States has decided to open a consulate in Dakhla, which will primarily carry out economic functions, with the aim of encouraging U.S. investment and contributing to economic and social development, particularly for the benefit of the residents of the southern provinces.
