Al-Kamili: Structured projects in the cultural sector are facing setbacks, which is having a negative impact on the achievement of objectives

Abdelrahim Al-Kamili, a member of the Authenticity and Modernity Group in the House of Advisors, affirmed that structural projects in the cultural sector reflect the commitments the government has made in the cultural sphere, However, some projects are facing setbacks, which negatively impact the achievement of the set objectives. He questioned the real reasons behind these setbacks and the urgent measures being taken to overcome these challenges.

Speaking during the oral question period held today, Tuesday, May 18, 2021, Al-Kamili said, “The government has committed to developing and revitalizing cultural life in our country and adopting a grassroots cultural policy capable of promoting Morocco’s cultural assets; however, the reality remains exactly the opposite,” adding “For example, the Berrechid region, which comprises 16 municipalities, not a single one of which has a youth center, local sports fields, or cultural centers.”

The parliamentary advisor added, “The city of Berchid has had two youth centers since its population did not exceed 60,000, It also has a single socio-sports center that lacks even the most basic necessities and is staffed by only one employee,” emphasizing that the lack of outlets for young people is exacerbating the spread of drugs and extremism among youth to an unprecedented degree.
