Morocco decided on Tuesday to recall its ambassador to Spain for consultations.
A diplomatic source revealed that Ambassador Karima Benyaich will report to the Foreign Ministry headquarters tomorrow, Wednesday, for consultations in light of recent developments in Moroccan-Spanish relations, where an assessment of these relations is expected to be conducted and next steps considered.
Karima Benyaich met with the Spanish foreign minister on Tuesday morning following the entry of more than 5,000 people into the occupied city of Ceuta; however, in remarks to the press prior to the meeting, the Moroccan ambassador stated that the summons from the Spanish Foreign Ministry was premature and that certain actions have consequences.
