In response to a request from civil society in the village of Thalath Bitlajan, part of the Sidi Abdullah and Saïd commune in the Taroudant province, Ahmed Oungar Belkermous, President of the Taroudant Regional Council, visited the area on Sunday, August 16, 2020, to closely assess the living conditions of the residents, listen to their concerns and needs, and coordinate with local political and community leaders to develop a program that would help address these issues, and second, to launch the paving of a road approximately three kilometers long, which will significantly help break the isolation of this area and the other affected neighboring regions.
The inspection visit also provided Ahmed Ongar Belkermous with an opportunity to review several targeted development projects overseen by the Sidi Abdallah and Saïd Community in partnership with the Ministry of the Interior, aimed at providing residents with safe drinking water and ensuring their water security. Belkarmous pledged to support these projects and facilitate residents’ access to their services, especially since they align with the goals the president of the regional council has set for himself since the water crisis reached its peak in the Taroudant region.
For his part, the president of the Taroudant Regional Council noted that, thanks to a concerted effort, the Council’s fleet has been expanded with two tanker trucks, which will play a significant role in helping the region overcome the challenges it faces due to water scarcity and in meeting the needs of all its areas.
