According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad, the Kingdom of Morocco welcomes the appointment by His Excellency Mr. António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, of Mr. Abdallah Batili as his Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya.
The statement noted that the Kingdom of Morocco expresses its full support for the new UN envoy and affirms its complete readiness to cooperate with him in order to contribute effectively to the efforts aimed at helping the Libyan parties reach the necessary agreements to hold parliamentary and presidential elections as the only way to overcome the current situation.
He added that the Kingdom of Morocco, which hosted the signing of the Skhirat Political Agreement on December 17, 2015, and hosted the Bouznika dialogues between the parties in Libya, will continue to participate in international efforts to bring about security and stability in this brotherly North African country.
