On Thursday, October 3, the regular session of the Local Council of Al-Hawza—in the province of Smara—was held, chaired by Ms. Lalla Al-Maalouma Bou Saïd.
The attendees discussed the item regarding the municipality’s 2020 budget, addressing the fact that the municipality has not yet received its share of the value-added tax, Furthermore, the issue of the municipality’s inability to pay its employees’ salaries is currently pressing. In light of this situation, the council members unanimously agreed to keep the session open until the relevant ministry intervenes to find a solution to the budget deficit.
In her opening remarks at the start of the session, the president of the Al-Hawza Municipal Council mentioned that she had held working meetings with numerous institutions in order to find solutions to reduce the budget deficit.
The next item on the Council’s agenda—at the request of several members—was the formation of a committee to oversee the plowing and land reclamation process, particularly given that the current period marks the start of plowing across the entire country.
