On Thursday, May 29, the Council of Ministers approved Draft Decree No. 2.25.365 implementing certain provisions of Law No. 18.23 on the film industry and reorganizing the Moroccan Cinema Center, which was presented by the Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Mr. Mohamed El Mehdi Bensaid.
This project is implemented in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 18.23 on the film industry and the reorganization of the Moroccan Film Center, promulgated by Royal Decree No. 1.24.67 of Jumada al-Akhira 1446 (December 20, 2024), particularly Articles 77 and 80 thereof.
This draft decree includes provisions stipulating that the State’s oversight of the Moroccan Cinema Center shall be exercised by the government authority responsible for communication; and other provisions defining the composition of the Center’s board of directors, which consists of two categories: a category of administrative representatives comprising members representing the relevant government sectors; and a category comprising members representing professional organizations active in the film industry.
