Adel Barakat, head of the Authenticity and Modernity Group in the House of Advisors, said that the government has failed to address the issue of youth, citing as evidence the mass exodus from the city of Al-Fnideq to the occupied city of Ceuta—one of the most serious illegal migration crises ever—and noting that the majority of the migrants are minors under the age of 16.
During the oral question period held today, Tuesday, May 18, 2021, Barakat raised the issue of the lack of necessary infrastructure in a number of local communities and villages to support cultural and sports activities, emphasizing that cultural spaces serve as a true outlet and a framework for meeting the essential needs of young people.
The team leader emphasized that the situation now requires the government to support, oversee, and improve the services provided to young people, particularly in rural areas, which lack local sports fields despite their large populations. At the same time, he called on the government to review the local sports field program in order to build facilities that meet the expectations of young people, with the aim of addressing the injustices faced by residents of these areas.
