Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Mr. Abdellatif Miraoui is planning a series of academic symposiums about broader academic regionalism across the Kingdom of Morocco.
In a statement made to media, Minister Miraoui said: “Academic regionalism is at the heart of our vision for tomorrow’s universities in Morocco. There should be a kind of coordination with different universities across the Moroccan Kingdom to have regional universities in conformity with His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s own vision to push for an advanced regionalism”. The Minister added: “due to the importance of universities for socio-economic development, we have launched a series of symposiums and we have almost finished except that we still have two: One in the area of Guelmim scheduled on July 1, 2022; and the other one for Moroccans of the world programmed after the Eid of Sacrifice”.
“After those two symposiums, then we will be finished with debating advanced academic regionalism”, stated the Minister, adding “by next September, we will organize national academic meetings to debate the establishment of multi-disciplinary universities/or polytechnics to debate of a new academic vision and develop a new academic model to train students with new skills to prepare them for adaptation with rapid changes being witnessed in today’s world”.
Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Mr. Miraoui concluded that the “goal is to develop our academic and educational model into a new one more updated and more responsive to today’s rapid challenges”.
