Inter-Libyan Dialogue: Morocco is committed to supporting Libyan parties until the crisis is resolved (Bourita)
In light of the clear commands and instructions expressed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco is to be committed, on a permanent basis, to accompanying and supporting Libyan parties on their path to resolve the current crisis for it has lasted too long, underlined, Saturday in Bouznika, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad, Nasser Bourita.
During his intervention before the delegation members of the Libyan High Council and House of Representatives, at the end of the new round of inter-Libyan dialogue, Mr. Bourita affirmed that Morocco’s commitment stems from solid, sincere and human ties uniting both nations, as well as his deep conviction that stability within Libya’s institutions is in the interest of stability in the whole North African region, especially in terms of achieving economic integration in the Arab Maghreb.
Morocco’s commitment to ending the Libyan crisis is based on four determinants: supporting Libyan people and assisting them through their decision-making process, as well as recognizing the institutional legitimacy in Libya, namely the legitimate institutions that were legally approved upon Skhirat agreement, the minister noted.

Reaching positive agreements is a matter of working within a clear framework alongside the United Nations which shall serve as a contributor to the inter-Libyan dialogue that facilitates coordination with all regional and international actors without, furthermore, engaging in agreements or participate in meetings that discuss the situation in Libya without involving Libyan counterparts, Bourita stressed.
Contrary to the low expectations expressed by several countries, Morocco remains optimistic about the future of Libya, Bourita said, noting that such optimism is based on several elements, namely Morocco’s confidence in Libyans’ ability to overcome differences and preserve the notable progress achieved over the past few months through political dialogue while moving past chaos and lack of communication.
Bourita further considered that the meetings held between Libyan protagonists were a main source of optimism for all participants and counterparts.
Mr. Bourita has also emphasized that the agreements reached by both parties represent a “positive element” within the political process, noting that Morocco supports the dialogue between Libyans on any subject of their choosing.

In addition, the minister congratulated all delegations for their agreement over the final measures concerning the issue of sovereignty, while reiterating his majesty’s particular support aimed at putting an end to the Libyan crisis, as well as Morocco’s continued readiness to host any meeting between Libyan parties.
At the end of this new round of discussions, delegations of both the High Council of State and the Libyan House of Representatives agreed on the formation and appointment of small work teams to take practical measures in regards to those occupying sovereign positions.
These teams, however, were formed to ensure developing application forms and invite candidates to present their portfolios in a way that complies with the approved criteria and conditions, Bourita stated, noting that these teams are also required to assess applications and examine their conformity with the requirements at hand.
