The regional agency for the implementation of projects invests over 1 billion MAD in several developmental projects within Tangier region

“The Regional Agency for the Implementation of Projects within Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima Region, has carried out 69 developmental projects, with an estimated budget of 1 billion MAD, during 2020 alone”, the Regional Council revealed, on March 16, in light the Supervisory Committee regular session (February), held within the Regional Agency for Projects Implementation, chaired by the Council’s and Committee’s President, Fatima El Hassani, in the presence of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima Governor, Mohamed Mhidia.

These projects aim at breaking the isolation within the region’s rural areas, supporting social sectors (mainly those related to health, education and vocational training), as well as rehabilitating rural centers, and creating three tourist routes within Bouhachem Park.

These projects also tend to include major development programs, such as the Spatial and Social Disparities Reduction Program, and “Al Hoceima Med” spatial development plan.

It is noteworthy that, throughout the year 2020 alone, the regional agency for the implementation of projects has allocated around 777 million dirhams to complete a total of 43 projects meant for breaking isolation within the region’s rural areas, in addition to the implementation of the spatial development program within “Al Hoceima-Med”, at an estimated amount of 99.1 million dirhams. The remaining funds, however, were allocated to programs meant to support the health sector within the region (0.76 million dirhams), the education and vocational training sector (106.5 million dirhams), the rehabilitation of rural centers (27 million dirhams), and the development of cultural equipment (6.2 million dirhams).

With regard to this year’s work program, another series of projects has been launched in relation to the program on reducing spatial and social disparities, as well as the integrated development program for the region’s communes and provinces, which were approved, unanimously, by the Supervisory and Monitoring Committee, during the aforementioned session.
