PAM – Elections: Meriem Akouchar shares her views in light of her nomination as women’s list deputy within Inezgane
PAM militants within Inezgane-Aït Melloul province have finally agreed upon the party’s candidacy list for the upcoming elections (scheduled on September 8th). The list features prominent names, including women’s regional list deputy, Meriem Akouchar.
Meriam Akouchar is a descendent of El Haj Akhouchar family; a family that enjoys a well-established reputation in terms of political action, humanitarian activism and charitable initiatives. For her part, Meriam Akouchar has previously served as deputy clerk to Souss-Massa regional council, thus earning her trust and recognition throughout the region by her fellow militants as well as the party’s regional secretariat.
In this respect, our correspondent managed to conduct an interview with Akouchar, upon which, the latter shed light on the party’s preparations for the upcoming elections, as well as PAM’s chances in the process.
– What was your first impression upon your nomination as electoral list deputy within Inezgane-Aït Melloul province?
. Ever since I entered the world of politics, I have been striving hard to earn a deputy spot. I am honored to be named deputy to PAM’s electoral list, for I am sure to meet the party’s expectations. I pray to God Almighty to show me the way to not fail those who put their trust in me.
– What is your point of view with regard to the position of female militants inside the party?
. Personally, I believe that PAM is committed to achieving equality between men and women inside both regional councils and the parliament, for the party tends to ensure women’s effective participation in the enactment of laws and legislations.
– How can you describe your party’s preparations as the election date is only a few days away?
. Our preparations for the upcoming elections are quite normal; yet, PAM is eager to earn a spot among the top 3 parties, for we are historically bound to.
– What are you chances, both provincially and regionally?
. PAM enjoys both political experiences and highly qualified competencies, therefore, we are expected to be suited accordingly. Our organizational aspects shall allow us to achieve our goals and reach higher positions, thus enjoying a much wider representation in both provincial and regional councils.
– What do you have to say to your fellow Moroccan citizens?
. I shall hereby call on Morocco’s youth to participate in the electoral process, for political awareness is key in light of the current circumstances. I shall also declare that PAM is the right political alternative for our citizens to seek.
The people of Morocco are called upon to restore their trust in our party, for they are to stop electoral reluctance and vote for PAM to achieve progress and prosperity for all.
Our party shall remain committed to meeting people’s aspirations, and shall work tirelessly on improving health, education, employment, equality and justice.
