Minister Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid: The Ministry has opened a door for dialogue with most trade unions to find solutions to employees’ problems

Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mr. Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid has confirmed that the current government is working to improve employees working conditions in all sectors and fields in due fulfillment to its social orientations and commitments, stressing that the government has opened the door for social dialogue after it has been enclosed for several years; since a number of conclusions have been reached satisfying all different parties in several sectors.

Minister Bensaid said in his response to questions by councilors, during the oral question session of last Tuesday, April 26, “among the sectors under my own responsibility and in this context, we have received various representatives of trade unions, out of our belief of the importance of participative democracy and have opened the door for dialogue and debate to find solutions to problems faced by employees”.

Minister of Youth Mr. Bensaid added that in this context, the Ministry, in the youth sector, has committed itself to find a final solution to the problem of assistant staff, making clear that this problem was solved theoretically in waiting for administrative measures to choose the appropriate company which will be responsible for signing contracts with those employees and reimburse them and also proceed with increase of minimum salary.

As regard to attached employees, in the sector of Sports, Mr. Bensaid said that in the context of the government new restructuration and according to royal decree 1.21.111 issued on October 11, 2021, about the appointment of government members, the youth sector has resorted to move sports services, institutions and kindergartens to the Ministry of National Education, Primary Education and Sports, according to legal provisions in force and in full respect of legal procedures and regulations, highlighting that an agreement was reached between the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication and the Ministry of National Education, Primary Education and Sports to safeguard and guarantee rights and gains of the employees who were moved.

On the other hand, Minister Bensaid has announced that an agreement was reached between both ministries stipulating that the youth sector will keep 158 employees to remain at the availability of this sector, then to be moved later on during the 2023 financial year; another 65 employees who wanted to preserve their original status will be proposed to specialized services at the Ministry of National Education, Primary Education and Sports for reviewing.
