PAM Politburo communiqué

PAM Politburo held last Thursday, January 4, 2024 an ordinary meeting under Secretary General’s presidency Mr. Abdellatif Ouahbi, at the party headquarters in Rabat to discuss latest developments at the national and international political scene, and also the party’s internal organizational matters. Following a deep and extensive debate of different topics which were included in the Secretary General’s political presentation, PAM Politburo has stated the following:

The PAM Politburo expresses its best wishes to His Majesty King Mohammed VI and to the entire Moroccan people on the occasion of the New Year and also on the occasion of the Amazigh New Year which will be commemorated as an official national paid holiday for the first time in the history of the ancient Moroccan nation. The commemoration of the Amazigh New Year has come as an implementation of His Majesty’s decision and as a reinforcement of the Amazigh presence as one of the essential components of the Moroccan authentic and rich cultural identity.

The Politburo highly appreciates the actual launching of the registration process to benefit from housing subventions program at the digital platform dedicated for that, and which has been put at the availability of Moroccan citizens from inside and outside Morocco. This social step is considered by the Politburo as important and unprecedented since it’s for the first time that citizens will benefit from direct subventions all over national territory. In addition, about one million families in precarious situation benefited from direct social subventions the end of last month, in full implementation of His Majesty’s instructions prior the end of 2023.

The Politburo has also discussed the constraints resulted in water scarcity in our country and its big implications on agricultural activities and consequently on economic and social conditions for populations in rural areas. The Politburo appreciates, at the same time, the government efforts to redress scarcity situation of this fundamental element, calling on all Moroccans to deal with this situation with full responsibility and with good rationalization of water consumption.

Regarding party’s organizational matters, the Politburo highly praises efforts made by the preparatory committee for the holding of the next national convention of the party. The Politburo expresses gratitude to various sub-commissions in charge of preparing reports, projects and conditions for making successful the PAM fifth national convention expected to take place in Bouznika next February 9, 10 and 11; of which all party’s militants women and men, intend to make of it an important phase that will consecrate the PAM position as a leading party at the national political scene and as secular democratic party, strong with its women and men and honest to its founding principles.

Concerning the party’s internal matters and latest developments of the prosecution of two members from the party, the Politburo, while it reminds of the freezing of membership of those two members immediately after starting judicial investigation, it reiterates the party’s strong trust in the judiciary power independence for a fair trial.

Regarding the exploitation of this file and make use of it to criticize and attack the party in an attempt to harm its leadership and its militants characterized by their strong nationalism spirit, honest to serve the supreme interest of the nation and citizens from various positions either from inside the government, the Parliament or at territorial communes, the party announces that it will proceed with all legal and judiciary procedures against anybody who dares try to harm the party’s reputation, or the honor of its militants through targeted defamation campaigns, the party will not be dissuaded to speak out about its secular and authentic values and its pursuing to defend its principles and values and its great contribution to develop political public life in our country.

Regarding external matters, and precisely on the killing, displacement and unprecedented massacres against the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip, and in front of flagrant impotence of UN institutions and international community to protect children and women in Palestine from this tyranny, the Politburo reiterates its condemnation of this flagrant aggression on Gaza Strip. The Politburo also condemns all aspects of horrible aggression and killing of children, women and civilians, the fact which has caused a broad mass destruction in Gaza in flagrant violation of world conventions and human charters.
