Minister of Justice calls on Moroccan women victims of digital violence to judicial recourse

Minister of Justice Mr. Abdellatif Ouahbi has called on Moroccan women to have recourse to justice and submit complaints when they become subject to digital violence.

In his response to MPs questions, during an oral session held last Monday January 8, 2023, at the Parliament, Minister of Justice Mr. Abdellatif Ouahbi has confirmed that there is a legislation vacuum in this section, referring that the expected penal code bill bears in its provisions a number of measures in this regard.

Minister Ouahbi has clarified that the penal code bill sanctions any harm that violates women’s private life or publication of their photos and sound combination; the law also sanctions digital sexual harassment and use of some pictures, or taking pictures, registration and messaging of sayings or fake information about a person without his or her permission.
