According to recent statistics: Minister of National Territory Rehabilitation confirms that the housing subvention platform has received more than 36 thousand requests for direct housing subvention
Minister of National Territory Rehabilitation Urbanization Housing and City Policy, Mrs. Fatima Zahra Mansouri has announced that the “Housing subvention” platform has received 36.128 requests for housing subvention since its launching in January 2, 2024, 80% of which from Morocco and 20% from Moroccans living abroad, with an average reaching 40 years.
Minister Mansouri made clear in her presentation made last Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at the interior territorial communes, housing and city policy commission that those requests have originally come from the provinces of Fez, Meknes, Marrakech, Tangier-Asilah, Skhirate-Temara, Errachidiya and Kenitra.
Minister Mansouri has reminded of the national dialogue for urbanization and housing organized by the Ministry under His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s patronage in 12 areas of the kingdom to ensure the right of housing for Moroccan citizens as a constitutional right for lower middle-class and limited- income class, and also to help Moroccans living abroad to have access to housing..
The Minister has also talked about financial subventions, conditions to benefit from this program and measures taken by the Ministry to follow up on this program with good governance and use of modern digital technology in partnership with the Deposit and Management Fund and with concerned interveners and notaries’ body.
According to data presented by Minister Mansouri, the amount of subvention was limited at MAD 100 thousand to buy a house whose sale price should be below or equivalent to MAD 300.000 with fees included , and MAD 70 thousand to buy a house whose price varies between MAD 300 thousand and 700 thousands with fees included.
Regarding conditions to benefit from this housing program, the Minister has informed that article 10 of the 2024 budget bill stipulates that the house should have a housing permission starting from January 2023, and should have at least two rooms and should be for principal residence over the first five years of its acquisition.
As for Moroccans living abroad, Minister Mansouri has reaffirmed that the house owner should maintain his/her property for five years as their house in Morocco, without being replaced by their families.
